Today,a fathers day celebration makes me to remember about my father-Mateo Legaspi Mabalay of Peñaranda,Nueva Ecija-who was born also in this place on Oct.11,1910.She completed the grade 7 school in our town. And he got married with my mother,Filomena Leodones from Sinasajan,a nearby barrio from the town proper.I was the 8th children in our family and he always telling me the history of our town, all our relitives and even about his career in the municipal government of Peñaranda-and it was started in the late 30's as mun.tax collector of our town until the time before i was born on Oct.30,1956.When I was small,he work as a keeper of the gas station own by his Godfather-The Bautista family,a wealthy a well known by our folks until today.Until midnight, the site is my favorite place to hide and to play with my friends.I remember, when i was a teen ager and studied at the municipal high school in our town.My father is unemployed and my mother used to stayed in San Jose city with my Aunt,my grandmother, and my uncle for a selling of heart leaves -another kind of habitual chewing gum by the old ages people from the past.At home every night, were only two sleeping in our bedroom and before we've get to sleep:a more than hours story telling about everything while listening to his favorite radio program by 2AA Battery transistor. All about the life of his sisters, brother and his fathers character when he was a kid.The Life of the people of Peñ.. during world II.One story i recall, about his job in the Munipality,..he can travel always to Papaya,a nearby town mun..,in Cabanatuan to remit records of monthly income of our town.I learn through him all the very important people of our place and about the politics system of our country this time.I ask to him why he loss his job in the municipality(?)and he has no retirement or separation pay(?).He said,..A big amount of money was loss, during their one day inventory,..His superior has an authority to do so,.and he was implicated only as part of it..and this is the Truth according to my father..So many years have gone until ,this memories is my messages and I can't forget until now,..I thought, there is no due process for by the law regarding my fathers case..and he is true to what he told that my father is honorable. My great honor to understand his experience from the past.
